Google Docs In the Classroom

Wow Google does it again. What a great way to bring people and information together. I have used Google documents for the first time this summer for a group project. Usually when we are putting together a power point or something we have to email our information back and forth. It is truly a waste of time. Now with Google docs we can all work on it together. It is great. There may have to be some more improvements like formatting and stuff. Other than that I would use this in a classroom. I would also use this to do work on a presentation with peers and co-workers.

  1. I hadn't used Google Docs before and I must say they are super cool and very helpful in a classroom. I have an aunt who has literally used it in her classroom and allowed her class to edit and work together on projects and actually being able to see what they are doing. I know I will be using Google Docs in my own classroom and can't wait to see what new things Google with put out in the upcoming future.

  2. I like using google docs. I became familiar with them while taking cep 416 and have used it frequently since then. I agree it's a great way to work on things with multiple people! I read about a teacher who uses this in his classroom and has been very successful with it and the students seem to enjoy it!

  3. I've never really used it before this semester, but like you said, it really is a time saver, not to mention easy to use. I recently found it helpful this past weekend when I had to compose a presentation with a few group members. Of course we all had plans but luckily we were all familiar with Google Docs and presentations, so to say the least Google saved the day!

On a different note, I think that these applications should be incorporated into K-12 classrooms. Introducing these applications to students even as early as elementary school would be beneficial for students. Not only would they be able to collaborate on assignments, but I could also see Google Docs as a tool that could be used when working on the writing process. I could see editing and revising with peers and teachers being more efficient as a result.
